Welcome to “God’s Word to You”!
God’s Word to You today is found in Luke 1:1-2
1Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word.
When this verse was first written it was meant as a lesson and validation. It was the introduction to the truth. It was a glimpse into why, where and what was given to man thru God the Father’s gift, promise and fulfillment of the truth in Jesus the Christ.
Today take it as a challenge. Take it as an introduction to look for yourself so you can not only believe but know why you believe.
Reading encouragements and devotionals along with the Bible is a good thing. Doing disciple programs and church studies is a good thing. Fellowshipping and ministry work is a good thing.
But, doing it because someone tells you that you should, doing it out of pressure to fit, the desire to be good isn’t enough. It is like works. When we work to be good, to be noticed, to be or do important things for God we can fail to do what God wants, but rather what we seek His approval to do.
Know Jesus. Know who He is and why He came. But know it for yourself. Others can lead, teach and help you grow. But you have to be the one to do the growing closer to God.
I remember growing up a small bear had been saved in a forest fire. He was raised by the rangers and eventually was named Smokey the bear and was used for decades as a call for us to be careful when we camp in the wild. His motto was meant to keep us from causing fires and destroying not only the forest but those creatures who live in it. His slogan was “Only you can prevent forest fires.”
Today I want you to know this. Only you can know your faith, your heart and your relationship with God. You must know your faith. You must know why you have it.
If you don’t know how then how can you tell anyone?
