Welcome to God’s Word to You
God’s Word to You today is found in
Colossians 3:2
2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
1 Peter 3:17
17 For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil.
Hebrews 5:12-14
12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, 13 for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. 14 But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.
Ephesians 4:29-32
29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. 32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Ever so often I just get on the old soapbox. Today is one of those days. I don’t particularly like to. But you know, since everyone seems to have an excuse for how they feel, treat others and have the mindset they do I figure I’ll chalk mine up to my age.
Yep, I will be the big 65 next month and maybe after all these years as both Gnostic, atheist and now Child of God I think my tank is full of letting others just get by with all the excuses.
You know the ones I’m talking about. Ya’ll did this to me. I can’t get a break. This President fill in the blank. I have a good excuse because of the life I was dealt. And the biggie, that’s not fair.
Jim Pritchard is a guy from my church and he wrote this on Facebook today. “Whether you’re on the left or the right, Solomon’s admonition for people and their leader is Psalm 72:15- ”May people ever pray for him.””
Folks, that goes for our current and even the past President as well as whoever is in our future. But that isn’t happening. The side not in office always belittles and finds ways to try and remove the President from office. And they teach their children to disrespect the office too. And yet they call themselves Christians.
And maybe they are just weak Christians.
The same goes for all the racial problems in our country. We have young people being raised to disrespect the other race. Way too many Christians put their race above God. How do I know? Well, if God was put first both sides would be willing to listen to, acknowledge hurts and pain and be willing to give love and support to the other side instead of expecting to be the only side receiving grace.
But maybe they are just weak Christians.
Last I will throw down on the latest and maybe most devastating disease to hit our country. The one before this was entitlement. This one is so scary I almost don’t want to mention it.
Sigh, here goes, the “I’m offended” disease. And folks it is running rampant. And it has no bounds. Young people expect immediate results over things that offend them. Races expect immediate results over things that offend them. Sexes expect immediate results over things that offend them.
And yet they have no thoughts if maybe they offend God.
But maybe they are just weak Christians.
Or maybe they aren’t Christians.
Soapbox point? Well, my gripes on the soapbox may or may not offend you. They may be something you agree or disagree with. But that isn’t even my point. My point goes back to the focus of whether we are weak or maybe not even Christians.
No matter when you were saved you owe it to God to walk in His Spirit and to allow Him to grow and mature you. It is His free gift but your walk. Don’t get caught up in all the excuses of the world. Don’t decide someone deserves to be disrespected or treated badly. Don’t hate the sinner, especially while you give the excuse you really only hate the sin.
And not only don’t forget but be sure to share;
me n’ God love ya
