God’s Word to You today is 2 Corinthians 12:9
9 But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
Paul had a burden that he asked the Lord to remove. God didn’t. He told Paul that His grace should be enough. And I think that is a lesson we in today’s world often refuse to hear.
What with businesses saying “you deserve” or “have it your way” or even “you can have it now”, I fear we have almost all of us become an “I am entitled” of “I demand this” society.
But we aren’t. Lets look at our country for instance.
The words offend and offense have taken over media and even law. It seems all anyone has to do is say this offends me and the wheels start working to fix the problem. And more, each side or group feels like they deserve and are offended more than the other and act like neither side has any validation.
Let’s take me for a moment. I will be the guinea pig for being offended.
So when I was young I wore glasses. I was called names by others who didn’t. As a youth I was heavy. I was called names, picked on and rarely chosen to be on any good team in sports. Later in life I was into drugs, alcohol and lived a very un-Christlike life. The police often pulled me over, I was always checked coming back into the country after cruises, people in businesses always kept a watch over me when I walked in and many people looked at me like I was trash.
Since then, I have been criticized for being racist, part of a privileged group and a bigot just for being a white heterosexual male. I have not gotten jobs, promotions and even financial aid because of that. I was once laid off and the union didn’t stand up for me for the same reason.
But, I am not griping. Today I feel like I am one of the most blessed men in the world. I have a wonderful wife, amazing son and daughter-in-law, a most awesome grandson and granddaughter, plus pretty good health, a nice home and most of all, a God who loves me in spite of who I was and even as I am.
His grace is enough for me. The challenge is this. Is His grace enough for you?
Yes, there is strife and injustice in this world. There is hunger and illness. There are those people who are unlovable. And there is anger because the world is not what we would have it to be. Our own lives may not be as we would have it to be.
But, is His grace enough for you?
You know what the answer should be. He is taking you there. For a reason.
me n’ God love ya
