God’s Word to You is Romans 5:8-11
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! 10 For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11 Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
Today is a message of love, restoration, reconciliation and hope. It is something the world lives without. It is something the world doesn’t understand and it is something the world will only find in Him thru us.
Jesus died for us because God loves us and we are justified by His blood and saved. His blood reconciled us and that gives us our reconciliation with God so we may one day be in His presence. That alone should bring us immediate and lasting peace and joy because of the hope we have in our eternal lives.
So how will the world know?
Well, we can go bash them in the head with a Bible.
We can stand on a street corner and yell Scripture to them.
We can make a list of sins and hold it in front of them as we hold them accountable for them.
Surely that will work, right? You may have smiled as you read that sentence but here is the truth. I have seen all of these tried and by people who thought they were doing God’s will and the way He desires.
But the lost only see pointing fingers. The lost only see someone thinking they are superior. The lost only see what the Devil opens their eyes and hearts to see.
Love covers a multitude of sins. And guess what? We should allow it to. We should see the lost and have our hearts break so much for them that we see the lostness more than the sin. We need to see a broken person in need of a Healer.
It isn’t easy to do. We get in our own way. We hold grudges against certain sins and certain people. After all, we are only human. But we can love one another as He does when we set aside our selfish ambitions and follow Him.
Not easy. Not impossible. One word I leave you with. Surrender.
