God’s Word to You is people
I was on social media and saw a post that tagged a friend from an old church. I was curious so I looked at their page and saw we weren’t friends. They are younger than me and we have different views on many things. I guess that’s why I was unfriended.
I was also friends with their spouse so I checked and yes, they had unfriended me too. It actually hurt just a little. It shows me the truth about people. None of us are perfect and I’m sure one or more of my opinions about life didn’t set well.
I guess they didn’t need the negativity.
That’s my point today. Our society, especially in our country, has become self centered and egotistical. Ironically many who fight injustice and bigotry, prejudice and racism as well as for equality for all tend to be the most intolerant of those with different views. In their battles they become what they protest.
It even includes those of us who claim to be children of God.
Why?
Because they are consumed by the world. They give up on God by becoming warriors for good and justice and don’t have time to wait on God to fix things here on planet earth.
Now I know there are people we don’t and won’t get along with. When attacked and in certain situations I will unfriend sometimes. In cases of vulgar direct attacks I’ll block someone. In public if there is someone who acts similar I will avoid them.
It isn’t by my choice and just giving up on them because I don’t like them or without trying to have a relationship.
Why?
Because that’s not the way of the Lord. That’s not His plan. If it was then very few of us would ever end up with Him in eternity.
His way is for us to not just ignore the negative people. It’s not to stay at war with our enemies. It’s not to only surround ourselves with people like ourselves. It’s not even for us to just be happy and have no negativity in our lives. It’s not for us to just be bigoted and prejudice.
A saying I was taught when I was young has been tossed aside and become so unpopular today. Sometimes we just have to agree to disagree
Folks, if we can’t do that then how will we reach ever reach others for Him?
Guess what? That is why He doesn’t take us to Heaven as soon as we believe.
This season how about we stop being at war with every little difference with others? How about we stop the boycotts and protests? How about we make it a point to meet others in their differences and look for the things we have in common and just get along?
How about we stop our agendas and make the Gospel our agenda?
Be the best present you can be for others. Be His.
Psalm 96:3
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!
Mark 16:15
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.
