God’s Word to You today is found in Ephesians 4:2
2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Humble and gentle are two things rarely seen in today’s world. Add patience and love and you really have a rarity.
And then when you look at the non-Christian world it is even more scarce. What did I say?
Yep. I did say it. Why? Because most of us are more interested in being right about our church or denomination or even our view of Jesus, sin and repentance than we are loving and sharing Christ and His love in ways we hardly care to explore.
Even I may have goofed today not thinking about what I was saying and where. See, I was talking about minimum wage.
I was so wrapped up in some things going on that I let my views and emotions get the best of me and blasted the idea of a 39% raise for the minimum wage.
Now I do think it is a bad idea. I won’t go into all the whys but I will say this. I would guess some of those people who I see daily and care so much about may not make the $10 to $15 being proposed and they may have taken offense at my views.
Again it doesn’t change my view but now I am praying it doesn’t change their view of me. It could have been a subject I should have stayed off of as well as I should have got control of my emotions before I spoke.
And I am a professed Christian. And I feel I made a mistake with my words and should have held them. And that is proof that we sometimes even unintentionally don’t keep our witness.
How can we lead others to God if we don’t constantly show His love that we can only show when He has more of our focus than the world does?
