God’s Word to You today is Romans 12:10-13
10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Church is an important part of a Christian’s life. It isn’t that we belong to the “right” one, though truth be told God has a plan for us in a particular one.
It isn’t about what programs we want or want for our kids though God has plans for them too. It isn’t about a certain type of preaching or music, though God leads us by those at times to where He would have us be.
It is about fellowship. It is about fellowship with other believers. It is about fellowship with the lost or displaced. It is a place to meet others, build friendships and relationships and learn how to get along as we will in Heaven.
It isn’t a closed club though and you know, over the years I have seen and felt that one of the biggest weaknesses is just that. I have seen churches that are so lead to meet new people that they may almost overwhelm them. I have seen churches you may go to for a year and never feel a part of and consistently be an outsider.
The challenge is twofold. First is be where God wants you to be. Second is make sure fellowship in not just in your churches name or statement.
May you be where He leads.
