God’s Word to You is 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
There is a challenge to thinking we are warriors, lions and the storm. I’m sure you may have seen the posts and memes on social media about those. But here’s the challenge. They move our focus onto us.
One of the most dangerous things in our country and our world today is believers focusing on doing it themselves. I have experienced it myself and can tell you, nothing takes us farther from God than ourselves. Be honest. You’ve felt or said, I’ve got this God, haven’t you?
We get so busy with our agendas, our plans and doing this or that in His name or for His glory that we totally leave Him out.
That isn’t His plan for us. It’s one reason He doesn’t offer us a life of leisure or an easy road to walk.
Our measure in life isn’t our circumstances or challenges but how we face them. The world says be strong, be courageous. God says lean on me. God says trust me. God says be my witnesses to all the world.
John the Baptist told us we must become less, He must become more. That’s hard for our egos to handle. But He’s the answer for that too. We just have to remember that, no matter how big or small our situations.
Be His. Let Him be Him.
