Welcome to God’s Word to You
God’s Word to You today is found in Mark 9:33-35
33They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” 34But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest.
35Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all.”
Some people have asked me where I came up with me n’ God love ya. This is a re-post of why and where it came from as well as why it begins with me.
Here is a challenge for today. Not only do I challenge you to use the phrase today, I challenge you to mean it and show it.
I first started using the phrase early in my walk as I visited different blogs and chatted with Christians and non-Christians.
Often I would be criticized and put down for my “bigoted beliefs” that didn’t include all religions and embrace all lifestyles. After all, who am I to judge”?
Of course those who are lost don’t understand that it isn’t me who will judge and I only try to share the gospel, not force it on anyone. When they would get angry and use foul language ond say demeaning things about me and Jesus my first impulse was to get defensive.
But as I spoke to them and as God was working on me it sunk in that they were just like I had been. Lost. And they need the love of Jesus even more than me since I already have it.
So I came up with a response “ya may love me, ya may hate me, but me n’ God love ya anyway”. It just came out that way. I never thought about how I wrote it.
And then one of them asked me if God was so important why did I put Him second? And the story of the disciples arguing came to my mind. I realized that the Holy Spirit can lead us to a witness if we allow it. I shared the story with him, and as I did I knew why it was put n my heart to write it that way.
We all tend to put ourselves before Jesus somewhere in our lives. There is something we either put before Him or will not give up. And He Himself tells us we must be last. So when I write it I put my name first to remind me that the first is last. And He is so much more than me. I write it not out of disrespect or foolish vanity, but to acknowledge His example. And that is also the reason I never capitalize me. I am far from worthy and still work to be last.
The most important part of it is simple though…
me n’ God love ya
