God’s Word to You is encourage
The world hates for people to encourage each other. Well, unless they are like you and think like you and now in our country, vote like you. Think about it.
Who do you encourage? Those at your church going through a hard time? Family members who are struggling? Maybe you step out of that box and feel lead to encourage those incarcerated who are supposed to be innocent? Women who struggled with abortions and now feel regret or the other side, it’s my body my choice and it isn’t really a human… yet?
Skin color, economic differences, sexual preferences and religion also divide us into groups who only care about, only encourage and support those like us. No wonder racism, bigotry and prejudice is constantly in headlines.
And in the midst of it all more and more people who are hurting, who feel alone who feel guilty for even living are swept under the rug along with the God who loves them. People are for their agendas more than they are for God.
Heck, many sermons are written to remind us God is for us. And most of us decide to focus on He is on our side like He is some faithful puppy, a genie to fill our every want and need.
We seek encouragement in things we want. We measure friendships by what others offer us. We become selfish and self centered.
Yet there is still the encouragement of His love. There is still the example of Christ. There is still salvation for those who walk close and those who stray. There is hope in His unfailing love.
Our challenge?
Stop focusing on Him being on our side, stop focusing on just our agendas, stop encouraging only those we like and learn to be more like Christ. Love everyone, yes even those who don’t think or act like us. Focus more on are we on His side.
Imagine if we loved our enemies so much that they stopped being enemies. You know, like God does.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.
Ephesians 4:29
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Proverbs 12:25
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.
