These are the choices of the definition of grace I wanted to show you today. There are also the ones that point to moving with grace that I left out but even as I write this I wonder should I have included them. I wonder if you follow the definitions shown if you wouldn’t be perceived as walking this world gracefully.
The thing about grace is God has an abundance He gives each of us during our lives. His intent is we share it. Yet we can listen to Satan and decide to hoard it, ration it to those we deem worthy of it ( oxymoronic, huh? ) or even ignore it as if our selfish prayers are answered because we deserve it. ( that’s the second oxymoronic statement).
I had a chat with a group of church members where my intention was to point out their hate, bigotry and racism by one of their leaders. I got back how much church members admire him and wish they had more like him and because of my skin color I had no right to even enter into the conversation. I sit here now praying for the whole church. How sad that people thinking they are following Christ yet offer so much hate and bigotry. The saddest part is they aren’t alone and not the only church or race that does the exact same thing.
Folks, Jesus died for everyone.
His grace is for everyone.
His salvation is for everyone.
And we are to offer His grace that He covers us with to everyone.
As a former atheist I can assure you much of the unsaved world looks at church as a place they are unwelcome and full of people who think they are better and hate the lost. Here’s the deal. We are the chosen to lead people to Him. If we are black we need to love whites. If we are white we need to love blacks. If we are either we need to love Latinos, Muslims, those living alternative lifestyles, atheists, Orientals, Republicans, Democrats and on and on.
Jesus didn’t give us the command to make those in the present pay for what those in the past did.
Read that again. And again and again until it sinks in.
He also never gives us the command to hate.
Read that again. And again and again until it sinks in.
We are to love the unlovable, reach the lost and show them we are different from the world. Anything else is of Satan and not of Christ.
Read that again.
The challenge today is which category of people do you need to offer grace to. Which group do you need to ask God’s forgiveness for how you have treated them. Folks, all of us need to. Even me. See, I know I have those people I can’t reach. We all do. But we can still pray for even them. We can still offer grace even if it includes only praying for them and stopping our hate for them.
Be His. For real.
John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
James 2:13
For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
Matthew 5:7
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.
