God’s Word to You
We live in a fallen world. There is hate, prejudice and evil everywhere. What is the main part of what is wrong in our country and growing in the world? It is something every group, race, religion and sex has had extremist take to a PC level and is destroying our country and world.
It is the problem of selfishness.
Philippians 2:4
4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.
In our country it seems we are either one party or the other and oh woe is you if you are stupid, evil, or ignorant enough to belong to the wrong party. And oh my gosh, whoever is President is the cause of all the wrongs that happen according to the opposite party.
And it all comes down to selfishness. And why not? After all we are told we can get it our way. The customer is always right. It is their fault. It isn’t my fault. Well we had this done to us and on and on. The result is we are validated and you are wrong. We are just and you are evil. We deserve. You don’t.
And that can be selfishness.
But… in the midst of all this selfishness are some people who live each day doing the best we can to love everyone. In the world of selfishness and evil there are those who seek to change the world.
In the middle of it all and let’s face it, we can be the most hated of all, there are those who are Children of the King who fight the good fight, run the good race and hold onto His hope.
We can be spit on, beaten, hated and persecuted but we can also be blessed. We may not even see all the blessings in this life. But oh my when we do.
And that is what sets us apart. In the midst of turmoil we see Him moving and working, more often than not thru us, and those miracles, those mountain top experiences boost our hope and give us strength.
Galatians 6:9
9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Our challenge is hard. The world is so tempting. And I see daily those who are His being drawn into the selfishness temptation. I see many of us who seek to be right and lose compassion. I see those who stray into worldly thoughts and pride.
But there is a cure, a way to push selfishness aside.
It is what Jesus came to do and modeled for us.
It is a simple way to focus on something other than ourselves.
Serve.
Matthew 20:28
28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
Serve and see Him working. Serve and see His hope in action.
Serve and be who He desires you to be.
Serve. And serve not only those you know, not only those like you but serve the unsaved. Serve the unlovable.
Then you will not only be more like Him but you will allow the lost to see Him. And isn’t that why He left us here after we found Him?
2 Corinthians 5:15
15 and He died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for Him who for their sake died and was raised.
