God’s Word to You is sacrifice
Today our country recognizes those who gave their lives so we could live this life of freedom we enjoy. Many people get confused about what this day means. It’s ok. Especially in our country since many people have no idea how well off they are compared to the world.
See, freedom isn’t given freely. But when there is no sacrifice there is often no appreciation. Our country has become a people of demands. It’s because we live in a country with so many, maybe too many freedoms. Maybe a good word for us is spoiled.
A parallel can be drawn to believers in our country too.
The freedom of salvation as well as the freedom to worship can be just as abused and forgotten as is the reason for Memorial Day.
Christ becomes this fountain of get out of troubles, forgiver of my mistakes, giver of gifts and even sponsor for our agendas. Any plan we make is asked to be blessed. Some even seek an excuse for their sins because hey, He forgives anything, right?
He died on the cross as our sacrifice to pay once and for all for our sins.
Folks, that is the Gospel. That is why we live with Him forever. That is what we are to preach to a lost world and remind each other of daily. That is what we need to appreciate with every breath we take.
We don’t need to wait until we need something, want something or decide to offer a few minutes of worship for.
Today in our country we should all take the time to reflect on the lives given in sacrifice for our freedoms.
Each day we who are saved should give our lives to honor the One who saves us forever.
Romans 5:8
But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 12:1
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
