Welcome to God’s Word to You
God’s Word to You today is found in Jonah 4:1-4
1 But to Jonah this seemed very wrong, and he became angry. 2 He prayed to the Lord, “Isn’t this what I said, Lord, when I was still at home? That is what I tried to forestall by fleeing to Tarshish. I knew that you are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity. 3 Now, Lord, take away my life, for it is better for me to die than to live.”
4 But the Lord replied, “Is it right for you to be angry?”
We make plans. We try and be in control. We even, Lord help us, can tend to judge who God should love and who He shouldn’t. And we do it in a multitude of ways.
One is religion. Whoa, they don’t believe you have to be baptized to be saved, think you can lose your salvation, worship on Saturday not Sunday, are legalistic, think you have to be baptized to be saved, think once saved always saved, or worship on Sunday instead of Saturday. They dip, sprinkle or dunk and that isn’t right.
They listen to music, have instruments, don’t have instruments and only use Hymnals…
Or maybe it is sin of choice that makes us condemn. Surely they won’t still do this or that and I had no problem giving up(fill in the blank) so they shouldn’t. If they were saved they would really love God.
Get the picture? Jonah was so full of himself that after avoiding being one of the first missionaries, he then decided those he was called to preach to didn’t deserve salvation and pouted when God saved them anyway.
And here is the kicker. God is God and He will do what He will do.
Us? We are just along for the ride. It is up to us which seat we choose. His is the easy road and He has already done all the work. The road may get bumpy while we are still traveling here but He is the number one driver.
Let go of the wheel and be blessed by the ride. And on the way see who you can bring with us.
me n’ God love ya
