God’s Word to You today is found in Romans 12:1-2
1 So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. 2 Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
I used a different Bible translation on purpose today. The verse may seem a bit different but I really like how this is worded. I find it relevant to my message today.
I have used Romans 3:23 to share that all of us are sinners. But there is so much being spread by our world today and I even see Christians being pulled into what the world wants rather than what God does.
The lie of the world is, this doesn’t matter, it is ok or hey God made you this way. And now fellow Christians are falling for the lie. I know I see so many statements about how God made you this way and you are special so don’t let the world or anyone else change you or say you aren’t fine as you are.
People use it as an excuse for life styles, life choices and the despair of not having hope of any change. But the truth is sin has made us all the way we are. Sin has been in our world since the first sin and each of us carries it into generation after generation.
God doesn’t make us imperfect. The world does. And no matter how we are born we will have both sin and evil as part of us and also a chance to say yes to God and be saved and changed.
No matter what circumstances lead to our birth we all have the ability to be full of sin. If I look at my family history I was destined to be an adulterer, substance abuser, liar and more. And for years I was some of those things.
Then I met Christ and He saved me from my old self. Each of us, no matter what sin has control of us, has the same exact chance to turn to God and to be saved and changed by Him. Change is God’s biggest promise and prize.
But the lie that you are ok as you are, the sins of the world aren’t that bad and we should approve of them so people can be happy or they deserve it is not something we need to preach from the pulpit.
What we need to preach and teach and share with this world is we have found the answer to all of our problem and we need to live like we really believe we have.
We need to share Christ in any way possible and show His love in every way possible to both those who know Him and those who don’t.
It is our witness, testimony and our living like we believe in Him that will pull them to Him. Only He will and can save them. But they have to know they need Him.
Today don’t be a martyr or hero. Don’t be a super good person or try and be perfect. Just be His. And let the world see it.
